Thomas Edward Prange

ADRIAN- Thomas Edward Prange, 87, of Adrian died on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Hospice of Lenawee Home with his family by his side. Born on April 6, 1935 in Adrian, Michigan he was the only son of Harry W. and Kathryn (Willis) Prange. He graduated from Adrian High School with the Class of 1954 and went on to attend Western Michigan University. On March 11, 1962 Tom married G. Sue Baughey at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian, and they celebrated 60 wonderful years together. Tom loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Adrian where he held many chairmanships over the years: the congregation, the elders, the Restoration committee, the 150th Anniversary and the cornerstone of the new church building. Tom belonged to the Lenawee Gideons and served as membership chairman. For over 50 years, Tom was an auto dealer in Adrian and owner of Tom Prange Auto Village. His dealership carried a wide range of vehicles, including Toyota, Chrysler, Plymouth, Jeep, Dodge Ram, motor homes and pre-owned vehicles. Tom was an automotive race fan and attended the inaugural race at MIS, he also sponsored NASCAR driver Buddy Arrington. Tom gave back to his community by giving of his time; he was selected as one of the outstanding young men in America when he was president of the Adrian Jaycees and received the Kenny Wood award for service. He enjoyed boating and was a member of the Devils Lake Yacht Club. Tom was very patriotic, and you could always see him flying the American flag or waving one. Presently Tom and Sue managed Adrian Storage Pro for Devils Lake Water Sports. Tom was a true gentleman and never knew a stranger. His family has many wonderful memories to cherish. In addition to his wife, Sue, Tom is survived by his children, Sally Ann Prange (Ray) Roddy, Thomas Harry Prange (Sandi Caudill) and Barbara Sue Prange (Bill) Horner; grandchildren, Dylan Thomas Roddy and Andrew (Jessica) Roddy; great-grandchildren, Grady and Joie Roddy; brother-in-law, Jack (Nancy) Baughey; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Samuel Horner; and uncles, Alvin Prange and Louis Prange, Jr. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian with Rev. Allen Muck officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian; and again one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday. Memorial contributions in Tom’s honor may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian, Gideons of Lenawee, or Hospice of Lenawee.
