Michael Duane Nester September 23, 1953 – August 25, 2026 Michael Duane Nester, 72, of Blissfield, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 6:29 p.m. at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. Born September 23, 1953, Michael was the son of George and Phyllis Nester. He spent his life working hard, loving deeply, laughing often, and making memories with the people who meant the most to him. Michael dedicated 30 years of his career to Jeep, where he worked in plant maintenance. Outside of work, he was an active and proud member of the Toledo-Sylvania Elks Lodge #53, where he served as a Past Exalted Ruler. The friendships and camaraderie he found through the Elks were an important part of his life. Mike had many passions, but few could compete with Ohio State football. He was also an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed the friendships, competition, and good times that came along with both. Some of his greatest memories, however, were made traveling the country with his wife and children, sharing adventures and experiences that his family will carry with them for years to come. Anyone who knew Mike knew there was rarely a dull moment when he was around. He was always quick with a joke, had a story ready to tell, and was often the life of the party. He had a way of bringing laughter into a room and making people feel welcome. Behind the jokes was a man with an enormous heart who was full of love for his family and friends. Above all else, Mike treasured his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Nester; his children, James (Beth) Nester, Ryan (Alesha) Nester, Billie Joe Brenke, and Ben (Tonya) Brenke, and Kellie Sleesman; and a treasured group of grandchildren who brought tremendous joy and pride to his life. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, George and Phyllis Nester, and his brother, Terence Nester. His family will miss his humor, his stories, his unmistakable presence, and the love he gave so freely. While his absence leaves an enormous space in the lives of those who loved him, the laughter, memories, and stories he created will continue to bring them together. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Michael’s life on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with visitation continuing on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Wagley Funeral Home in Blissfield, Michigan. Michael lived a life filled with family, friendship, laughter, travel, and love. Those fortunate enough to have known him will have plenty of stories to tell, and knowing Mike, that is probably exactly how he would want to be remembered.
