Mary Fischer

BLISSFIELD- Mary Fischer, 76, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022 at ProMedica Charles & Virginia Hickman Hospital, She was born on April 19, 1946, in Adrian, Michigan the daughter of Arthur “Darl” and Gertrude M. (Welker) Pfeffer. Mary graduated from Deerfield High School with the Class of 1964. On March 30, 1964, Mary married David Fischer in Deerfield and they celebrated 53 years together before his death on April 28, 2017. When Mary was young, she went on a vacation with her family where they drove out west to California. The Pfeffer family managed to stop at all the famous tourist spots along the way, creating many memories and stories that Mary enjoyed sharing over the years. Mary was a busy wife and mother of three children when she decided to start her own business, going into movie and video game rental. For over 15 years, Mary owned and operated Showboat Video in Petersburg and Blissfield MI. Mary’s children loved being able to watch movies and play video games while growing up but they knew not to challenge Mom at video games as she was a true gamer even back then. Mary loved to spend time researching her genealogy and finding out the history of her family. She was an excellent baker and was known for making wedding cakes when she was younger, and Christmas cookies and Bullseyes for family gatherings. Mary had a natural talent for painting and carving that showed her artistic side. Mary liked to test her luck in playing Bingo, Keno and taking part in regular trips to the casinos. She is survived by her children, Dawn Fischer, Andrea (Chris) Berry, and James (Vicki) Fischer; grandchildren, Melissa (Jeston) Sheldon, Amanda (Andrew) Smith, Kayla (Zach) Obst, Ryan and Katherine Berry; great-grandchildren, Leah and Spencer Sheldon, Daisy and Stevie Smith and Samantha Obst; and siblings, Karen (Don) Spiegel and Steve Pfeffer. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, David; daughter, Charity; and siblings, Janet Baker and Danis Pfeffer. A memorial Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 4 p.m. at Blissfield First United Methodist Church with Mr. Michael Sheldon officiating.
