James Eric Griesinger

ADRIAN- James “Jim” Eric Griesinger, 64, of Adrian, Michigan died on December 27, 2023. Jim was born on September 29, 1959 in Tecumseh, MI one of six children to Harry and Ruth (Wooster) Griesinger. He graduated from Adrian High School in 1977. In 1978, Jim entered the United States Army and during his years in the military he earned many awards for his marksmanship as a sharpshooter and expert with the M-16 rifle. While he was stationed in Germany, Jim met his future wife, Birgit Behrens. Jim and Birgit were united in marriage on December 7, 1982 in Sonderborg, Denmark and recently celebrated their 41st anniversary. Jim was an over the road truck driver for more than 30 years. He logged millions of miles and had many adventures on his travels. During this time, he was a car hauler where he delivered specialty cars to numerous celebrities. Jim didn’t need directions to get to his destinations as he knew the highways from experience, he especially liked driving in the mountains and the spectacular views. Jim’s sense of humor was always present in his contagious laugh and never-ending supply of jokes and funny stories. Jim belonged to St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Adrian. Jim enjoyed bow and rifle hunting, along with fishing when he had the chance to be out in nature. A loyal sports fan, Jim always cheered on his Green Bay Packers and Tigers, and Michigan Wolverines when they were playing on television. When it was NASCAR season you would find Jim tuned in and ready for the start of the race; with Jeff Gordon being his favorite driver. When Jim wasn’t on the road driving, you could find him spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always made time for his family and the title of “Opa” was his favorite. In addition to his wife, Birgit, Jim is survived by their children, Dean (Claudia) Griesinger, Kevin (Emily) Griesinger and Nicole Griesinger; 14 wonderful grandchildren; and siblings, Janet Huff, Sherrie Paulette, John (June) Griesinger and Jeanne (Joseph) Musto. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gereald Griesinger; and brother-in-law, Gary Paulette. Following Jim’s wishes, cremation will take place, and a memorial service will be held on Friday, January 5 at 2:00pm with visitation beginning at 1:00pm, at Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian.
