Donna M. Holubik

ADRIAN—Donna May Holubik, 86, a lifelong resident of Deerfield, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012, at Lenawee Medical Care . She was born October 3, 1925 in Deerfield to Lilian (Long) and Eugene McCarty. She graduated from Deerfield High School in 1944. She was married to Frank M. Holubik on November 10, 1945, he preceded her in death, April 7, 2000. In her younger years she worked for Gerity’s and then Applewood Orchards. She was a member of the St. Alphonsus’s Catholic Church, where she was involved in the Altar Rosary Society. Also known as “Mim” , the love of her life was her four grandsons and great granddaughter, Willow. Donna never missed a single school event such as Christmas programs and award ceremonies. She also never missed a sporting event and dearly loved watching her grandsons play basketball or baseball. Her favorite seat was in the Deerfield gym, the first bleacher seat right by the door. She was an avid Detroit Tiger fan but loved to watch all sports. She was also known for her beautiful yard and flowers, she loved to ride her bicycle around town and stop and visit with neighbors. Surviving are her three sons, Jeffery Holubik, Craig (Sherry) Holubik, and Brett (Donna) Holubik, all of Deerfield; four grandsons and one great granddaughter, Jason (Kay) and Willow Holubik of Morenci, Justin Holubik, Ross Holubik and Rhett Holubik, all of Deerfield; one brother, Max McCarty of Deerfield, two sisters, Verna Mairle of Goshen, Indiana and Joyce Forsythe of Tecumseh. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five brothers, Alvin, Rolan, Erwin, Virgil and Bruce; and two sisters, Geraldine and Marie. Mass of the Christian Burial for Donna, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2012 at the Light of Christ Church (St. Alphonsus Catholic Church) Deerfield, MI with Rev. Jack Loughran presiding. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus’ Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Tagsold Chapel, Wagley Funeral Home, Blissfield, with a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Deerfield Fire Department, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
