Dale E. Spohr

ADRIAN- Dale Spohr, age 92, of Adrian, MI, left this world on a beautiful fall day, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Hospice of Lenawee Home, with the love and support of his family. Dale was born on March 3, 1932, in Adrian, MI, one of Ernest and Hazel (Bushroe) Spohr’s five children. He attended Prairie School when he was growing up and was involved with 4-H. Dale and his siblings were kept busy on the family farm milking cows and tending to the never-ending list of chores. On July 10, 1953, Dale married Shirley Court in Ridgeway, MI and they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this past summer. Together they made a great team, raising a son and daughter, and setting an example of what a loving partnership looks like. Dale had a strong work ethic and started working at the young age of 18. During his lifetime, Dale was employed at Tecumseh Products where he worked on the line for 39 years; he was also a heavy equipment operator at Brady Sand and Gravel for 42 years and found time to put in 10 years with Wilson’s Construction before retiring at the age of 79. Dale appreciated spending time out in nature, whether it was camping with his family, fishing or going off deer hunting. He was talented in woodworking and enjoyed woodburning as a hobby. If something needed to be repaired, chances are Dale could fix it and move on to the next project without missing a beat. Dale’s faith was very important to him as he was a long-time member of Adrian First Church of the Nazarene and actively involved on the church board and several committees. Family was a priority for Dale, and he took part in attending and sharing in the fun of his children and grandchildren’s numerous activities. In addition to his loving wife, Shirley, Dale is survived by their children, Mark (Terri) Spohr and Diane Spohr Lowry; grandchildren, Matthew (Katie) Spohr, Ryan (Annie) Spohr, Stephanie (Alex) Haines, Brittany (Greg) Williams; 7 great grandchildren and sister, Wilda (Spohr) Haas; He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lee Spohr, Wanda Cavin, Dean Spohr. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Adrian First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Larry Betz and Rev. Robert Moulding officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee County Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Visitation will take place before the service from 12:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at the church.
