Bettye Ball

Adrian: Bettye June (Roberts) Ball, of Adrian passed away peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 1, 1934 in Madison County, North Carolina, the daughter of Rand and Frances (Gentry) Parris. Bettye was united in marriage to her husband, Donald Lincoln Ball on June 27, 1956 in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Bettye graduated from Black Mountain High School in 1953 and went on to attend Montreat College. She devoted her life to being a homemaker and caring for her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many children in the community. Bettye was a member of the First Christian Church “Disciples of Christ” in Adrian, where she was active in all capacities of the church. She was an important role in the Lenawee County 4-H Program of the Project Parents group and was also active in scouting with her husband Don. In her spare time, Bettye was an avid reader, gardener and loved the outdoors. Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Donald L. Ball of Adrian; her children, Cynthia (Sam) Reynolds of Adrian, MI, Michele (Jamie Bloemendaal) Ball of Adrian, MI, Janice` (Dale) Gossman of Adrian, MI, Nancy (Stephen) Karpo of Tipton, MI and Samuel (Tamara) Ball of Blissfield, MI; 9 grandchildren, Brooke, Bobby, Jocelyn, Kellie, Sammy, Alex, Parker, Seth and Emma and 10 great-grandchildren, Bree, Mercades, Tatelynn, Skylee, Logan, Caleb, Mason, Rylee, Mia and Eva June. Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Furman Roberts, a brother, Billy Roberts, a brother-in-law, William Rouls, her Mother and Father-in-law, Samuel and Beatrice Ball and her Aunt Bernice. A visitation will take place on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Adrian, 2667 Bent Oak Hwy., from 5 to 7 p.m. with a memorial service to celebrate the life of Bettye immediately following with the Rev. Linda Farley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Lenawee or to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.
