William Carl Standley Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

ADRIAN – William “Carl” Standley, 63, of Adrian died Friday morning, June 17, 2022 at Hickman Hospital in Adrian with his family by his side, after a lengthy illness. Born September 22, 1958 in Lincoln, Nebraska, Carl was the son of William and Carol (Seymour) Standley. At the age of 17, Carl answered his country’s call, and with his parents’ consent, enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served for four years. Upon receiving his high school diploma, he furthered his education and began working as a General Contractor. Carl quickly earned the designation as Master Builder. A very talented contractor and carpenter, he could eye measurements and do the math in his head. Carl started is his own business and became the Owner and Operator of CSC Carpentry. A strong work ethic was in Carl’s blood, and he always wanted more for his children than he did for himself. Carl loved the water, especially fishing. He was known for his excellent cooking and BBQ skills. Carl had a true love for life and all of those around him. Carl gave selflessly for years, even when he didn’t have anything left to give. He loved Bob Dylan and was always dancing and singing along. On February 14, 1999, Carl married the true love of his life, Veronica “Susie” Waddle. She survives to cherish over 22 years of love, laughter, and memories. In addition to his beloved wife, Susie, Carl is survived by his daughters, whom he loved fiercely, and never minded spoiling, Meagan and Regina; five grandchildren; sister, Carla; mother-in-law, “Lala”; sisters-in-law, Carmen, Teri, Goldie, and Anna; and a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, William and Carol Standley; grandparents, Anna and Mervin Standley and Martha and Carl Seymour; brother, Rick; and sister, Marty. Per Carl’s request, cremation will take place. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date and are planning for burial at sea.
