Velma enjoyed bingo and was an avid sports fan, and she was a faithful advocate of Blissfield Little League as well as a fan of the University of Michigan sports. Prior to ailing health, she attended Crossroads Community Church in Adrian. The true matriarch of her family, her life revolved around her family and extended family, many of which she had the privilege of nurturing at a young age. Surviving are her daughters, Linda Ganun of Blissfield and Sue Ellen (Henry) Mapes of Adrian; a sister, Eva Moore of Adrian; two grandchildren, Matt (Michelle) Ganun of Blissfield and Michelle (Matt) Yeagley of Brighton, MI; five beloved great-grandchildren, Gavin and Tyler Ganun, and Reese, Harper and Lincoln Yeagley; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenwood, Clarence and Gerald Griewahn; and four sisters, Betty Sluder, Helen Borders, Della Bender, and Jernice Sedlacek. A funeral service for Velma will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home Tagsold Chapel, Blissfield, with Pastor Jack Blaker officiating.
