Velma Fay Carpenter Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

ADRIAN – Velma Fay Carpenter, age 99, a life-long resident of the Hudson area, went to be with her Lord, who she loved and served, on February 11, 2022, at Charlotte Stephenson Manor in Adrian. Velma was born on July 11, 1922, in Hudson, Michigan, the youngest child of Frank and Flossie (Webster) Harden. On March 28, 1941, Velma married Edwill Carpenter and they were blessed with 70 years together before his passing on July 9, 2011. Family meant everything to Velma, and she treasured her titles of wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a faithful prayer warrior who focused her efforts on each family member, friends, West Rome Baptist Church family and the missionaries supported by her church. Velma enjoyed reading and was a puzzle guru, loving the challenge of larger 500-piece puzzles. Her cooking and baking skills were appreciated by many, especially her fresh peach pie and ham loaf. Velma volunteered her talents at the Provincial House, in Adrian, for years where she baked cookies for the residents. Velma is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn (Richard) Fish of Hudson, Cathy (Ron) Kubik of Jackson and Christy (Tom) Duff of Adrian; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwill; and siblings, Harry Harden, Roy Harden and Neva Bills. Memorial services for Velma will take place on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11 a.m. at West Rome Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Malin officiating. A recording of the service will be accessible after the service from Velma’s tribute wall on www.WagleyFuneralHomes.com. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at the church. Burial will take place at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson, MI.
