Thelma Kathryn Miller Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

ADRIAN – Thelma Kathryn Miller, age 88 of Adrian, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, January 7, 2022, at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. She was born July 7, 1933, the eighth child of the late Sandford and Edith (Baker) Summers. Battle Creek, Michigan is where she met Fayette “Shorty” Miller whom she married June 1, 1952. Their love story included almost 69 years of marriage before his death May 29, 2021, three children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Thelma graduated from high school in 1951 and went on to Beauty School. She was a hairstylist at Merle Norman Salon for several years before starting her family. Once Thelma and Shorty had children, she stayed home full-time to be available and support them in their activities. When her chlldren were older, Thelma went to work at Bixby Hospital where she retired after 20 plus years of service. Thelma enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She was an active member of Bethany Assembly of God Church for many years. She is survived by her children, Jeffery (Debra) Miller, Jennifer Miller-Obenour, and John (Lisa) Miller; grandchildren, Dustin, Kelly, Jamie, Gregory and Trenton; great grandchildren, Emily and Austin; siblings, Gale (Sharon) Summers and Kathleen Vaughn; sister-in-law, Elaine Summers; and exchange student grandchildren, Kevin, Luis, Fernando and Victor. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, John, Eugene, Donald, Gerald, LeVaughn, Herbert and Dale; and sisters, Ilene Francoeur and Barbara Johnston. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Ron Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 4 to 8 pm. at Wagley Funeral Home and on Saturday one hour prior to the start of the service.
