Ruth "Queenie" Louise Thompson

March 8, 1926 - December 23, 2017

BLISSFIELD—Ruth “Queenie” Louise Thompson, age 91, passed away December 23, 2017 at Blissfield Place surrounded by her family. Ruth was born on March 8, 1926, in Fairfield Township to Fred and Helen (Whitman) King. She graduated in 1944 from Blissfield High School. She married Willis Thompson, her high school sweet- heart, on June 15, 1946 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in July, 2010. Ruth and Willis were chartered members of Faith Lutheran Church, Metamora, OH. She was very active in 4-H, Lenawee Farm Bureau and Riga Township Axillary. Her faith and family was very important to her. Ruth is survived by two sons, Ronald (Joyce) Thompson and Alan “Sammy” Thompson; two daughters, Nancy Stucker and Debra Thompson. She enjoyed her 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and also all her nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willis; daughter Sharon Marie; son-in-law, Steve Stucker; great granddaughter Nora Swift; her sister Evlyn Rau and brother Frederick “Sonny” King, in infancy. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Blissfield Place and Hospice of Lenawee for the exceptional care and compassion given to their mother. Funeral services for Ruth will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Church, Metamora, OH. Burial will follow at Riga Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 27 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home Tagsold Chapel in Blissfield.
