ADRIAN - Roger James Cox, 69, of Adrian, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. Roger was born on September 22, 1951, in Adrian, Michigan, the son of H. James Cox and Georgina “Dena” Knight Cox. On November 26, 1975, Roger married Janet Horn. They recently celebrated 45 years of marriage. Roger and Janet owned and operated NAPA Auto & Paint Supply, Inc., in Adrian and Tecumseh for 20 years. It is here where Roger met many friends and built life-long relationships. After retiring from the parts business, Roger went on to work for the Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD), where he met even more friends. He loved his work at the LISD and treasured his friendships. Roger taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Tecumseh for 15 years and most recently was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Adrian. Roger loved meeting people, helping people and making others smile. Most precious to Roger was his family, including his wife Janet, daughter Amy (Jeremy) Palmer, son Shane (Tina) Bowman, and his granddaughters, Samantha and Jessica Bowman. He is also survived by his aunt Gale Solmonson, step-brother Gary (Linda) Stefanik, step-sister Jody (Randy) Wooten, half-brother Jason Cox, half-brother Jeff Cox, and step-sister Paula (Randall) Franks. He was loved by his sisters- and brothers-in-law, Judy Demlow, Jeanette Sutton, Miles (Teresa) Horn, Jr. and David Horn. Roger was also a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and a cherished cousin and friend. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, James and Phyllis Cox; mother and stepfather, Dena and Merrill “Mac” McClain; sister Cathy Sue Cox and brother Ronald Cox, both in infancy; as well as his in-laws, Miles and Dolores Horn, Sr. He was met in heaven by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Roger took great pride in his work at the LISD. While serving in the District’s Facilities and Maintenance Department, he always cherished the opportunity of providing a helping hand. More recently, Roger had the privilege of assisting students with special needs during their bus rides to and from school. He loved helping students who needed a little extra care, and everyone loved Roger.
