Richard E. Jackson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

BLISSFIELD- Richard E. Jackson, 100, formerly of Palmyra, Michigan died Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Blissfield Place under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. Born on September 17, 1921 in Detroit, MI, he was the son of Fred E. and Ethlyn (Moore) Jackson. He graduated from Adrian High School. On March 20, 1943 Richard married Margreet “Muggs” Lucille Coleman and they shared over 68 years together before her passing on November 22, 2011. Dick accomplished many things and saw great changes during his 100 years of living. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Richard worked in welding and maintenance at Stubnitz Green, Harvey Aluminum, Martin Marietta and Jet Wheel Blast of Adrian. He also held the position of postmaster in the Village of Palmyra for several years. Dick was involved with his community serving as the clerk on the Palmyra Township Board for 47 years and was a former member of the Palmyra Fire Department when he was younger. He is survived by his sons, Douglas (Glenda) Jackson of Marshall and Mark Jackson of Fairfield and daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Jackson of Adrian; six grandchildren, Dr. Jodi (Steve) Sterle of Roland, IA, Chad (Sandee) Jackson of Battle Creek, MI, Jeff (Michelle) Jackson of Palmyra, MI, Kristin (David) Martin of Colchester, CT, Kyle (Jessica) Jackson of Adrian, MI, Kate (Mike) Bolton of Battle Creek, MI, and two step-grandchildren, Melanie (Mike) Nightingale of Blissfield, MI, and Melissa (Travis) Timar of Adrian, MI; 11 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Margreet; son, Richard A. Jackson; daughter-in-law, Marge Jackson; and brothers, Frederick H. Jackson, Charles A. Jackson and Arthur E. “Spike” Jackson. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 11 a.m., at Palmyra Community Presbyterian Church with Rev. Douglas Holmes officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
