JASPER—Norman Vanderpool, 83 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Lenawee. Norman was born on May 7, 1933, at home in Fairfield Township, one of 10 children born to Harry E. and Eva M. (Corwin) Vanderpool. On August 1, 1953, Norman married Alice “Jean” Wilson at St. Peter’s Church, Blissfield, they celebrated 63 ½ precious years together. He graduated with the 1952 class of Sand Creek High School. Norman worked as a tool and die maker at Blissfield Die and Stamping and later at Marco Products. After retirement, he mowed lawns for the City of Adrian. Restoring tractors, planting gardens, snowmobiling, golfing, camping, and mushroom hunting, were his favorite activities. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Adrian. Not only was Norman one of the founding members of the Heritage Antique Tractor Club, he was also a member of two additional antique tractor clubs. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren but also enjoyed picking on them as well. He also will be missed by his four legged friend, Percy, his cat. In addition to his wife, Alice, Norman is survived by his children, Norma (Steve) Eckholm, Mark (Susan) Vanderpool, all of Adrian, Linda (Wain) Cabose of Howell, MI; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother Bruce of Palmyra and 3 sisters in law. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Mass of the Christian Burial for Norman will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Joseph Church, Adrian, with Rev. Kurian Kollapallil as celebrant. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Visitation will be Friday, March 10 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m., with a rosary prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. Visitation will also be on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at St. Joseph’s Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or to the donor’s choice.
