Nina Marie Sloan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

ADRIAN – Nina Marie Sloan, 59, of Adrian passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Nina was born on August 16, 1962 in Adrian, Michigan, and is the daughter of Donna Rivera and step-daughter of Reynaldo Rivera, Jr. She grew up in Adrian and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from Siena Heights University. Nina was raised Lutheran and was strong in her faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. She relied on her faith as she battled multiple sclerosis for over 35 years. Nina loved all sports and would enjoy watching Michigan teams in action as well as the Olympics. She had vast interests, everything from watching the stock market trends to bird watching. Her pet finch, Peaches, was a great source of entertainment. Nina was an excellent cook and had a special talent when it came to making no bake cookies for her family. She loved spending time with her grandson, Declan, who lovingly referred to her as “little grandma”. He always brought a smile to her face. In addition to her parents, Nina is survived by her daughters, Lynsey (Jacob) Rye, Kathryn (Matthew) Perry and Courtney Kimerer; her number one grandson, Declan Rye; sister, Annette Sloan-Valdez; step-sisters, Lisa (Dale) Rivera and Sonia Rivera; and nephew, Trysten Valdez. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian, with Pastor Gene Reitz officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
