ADRIAN –Marybeth Cottington, 53, of Adrian, died on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Marybeth was born on December 2, 1967, in Adrian, the oldest daughter to Ronald and Jennifer (Camp) Ball. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1986 and went on to earn her bachelor’s in business administration from Siena Heights University. On January 23, 1998, Marybeth married Levi “Jim” Cottington and they have been blessed with 23 years together and many adventures. Marybeth, Jim and their children traveled the world together, visiting many countries in Europe and Asia; and put down roots living in Germany and India for several years. Marybeth was the owner of The Posy Shop in Hudson, where she was able to express her creativity and market her beautiful works of floral art. Always appreciating flowers and their grace, Marybeth spent a good deal of time outdoors working in her flower beds at home. When she wasn’t with her flowers, Marybeth was spending time with her grandchildren; or you would most likely find her with her dogs, Ruffie and Berkley. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was involved with the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce. Marybeth cared about others and gave of her time by being a past Treasurer for Habitat for Humanity and delivering for Meals on Wheels. In addition to her husband Jim and parents, she is survived by their children, Philip Michael Newell, David Andrew Newell, Megan (Sara Heath) Cottington and Anthony Cottington; grandchildren, Tegan Newell, Elijah Newell, Harold Cottington, Ray Cottington, Oliver Newell and Frances Cottington; siblings, Anne Vanderhoff, Michael Ball and Andrew Ball. A Mass of Resurrection for the soul of Marybeth will be celebrated by Fr. Todd Koenigsknecht at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hudson on Monday, May 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with a one-hour visitation prior to the Mass. The family will receive friends for visitation at the Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian, on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m. and concluding with a Rosary at 5:30 p.m. The Rite of Committal will take place in St. Joseph, Michigan. In honor of Marybeth’s love of flowers, the family encourages sharing the beauty of flowers by buying locally and visiting the Blossom Shop in Hillsdale.
