FORT MYERS, FL – Mary Ann McRobert, 83, of Adrian, and more recently Cape Coral, Florida, died early Friday morning, March 5, 2021 at Select Medical Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida. Mary Ann was gentle, kind, empathic, the picture of compassion, and a role model for professional women. Born December 11, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio, Mary Ann was the first-born child of Al and Ethel (Condren) Linehan, a big sister to three little brothers and a baby sister. Mary Ann graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Adrian and then graduated from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing as valedictorian of the class of 1958. Her nursing career included medical-surgical, labor and delivery, and addiction and mental health. She also worked as a nurse educator. She later attended Siena Heights and the University of Michigan earning a Masters in Social Work. Throughout her life, Mary Ann was employed as a Registered Nurse and a Social Worker for Bixby Medical Center in Adrian, as well as the former Executive Director for the Family Awareness Center, and as a private practice therapist. She also served as interim director of several social service agencies. She was a strong advocate for families and children and brought her spirit of volunteerism wherever she lived. On August 24, 1968, Mary Ann married Roger R. McRobert and they raised four children together. They enjoyed traveling, visiting friends and family, and being active in their communities. A member of St. Joseph and St. Mary’s Catholic Churches, Mary Ann volunteered her time at United Way and Hospice of Lenawee. She was also a member of Zonta of Lenawee. In her spare time, she enjoyed visiting and playing games with her grandchildren. Mary Ann moved to Cape Coral, Florida permanently in 2012. She volunteered with the St. Vincent De Paul Society and served on the board of directors for a scholarship fund for associates of Gulf Coast Village, the community where she lived in her final years of life. Mary Ann is survived by her children, Erin McRobert (John Grandstaff) of Farmington, MI, Ellen McRobert of Philmont, NY, Sean McRobert (Cyrenia) of Tampa, FL, and Michele McRobert (Chris Cronin) of Middletown, DE; grandchildren, Angus VanBeusichen, Blue Grandstaff, Miles Grandstaff, Sophie, Zoe, Roger, and Georgia Cronin, and Alex and Anastasia McRobert; siblings Tim (Joann) Linehan of Port Huron, MI, Terry (Pat) Linehan of Atlanta, Georgia, and Karen Linehan of Cape Coral, Florida; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Roger, and brother William Linehan. Visitation for Mary Ann will be at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian on Sunday, March 14, 2021 beginning at 4 p.m. and concluding with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. A live streaming of the service will be accessible from Mary Ann's tribute wall on www.WagleyFuneralHomes.com, beginning Sunday, March 14, at 7 p.m. where a link to view the recording will be available for 90 days. Mass of Resurrection for the soul of Mary Ann will be celebrated Monday, March 15, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Adrian, with Father Michael Newman O.S.F.S. celebrating. Rite of Committal will follow in East Rome Cemetery. Following the Governor’s executive order, all attendees are required to wear a proper face covering, with the exception of those under the age of five years old or those who cannot medically tolerate.
