Mary Ann Gallagher

May 8, 1942 - April 12, 2021

ADRIAN – Mary Ann Gallagher 78, of Adrian, died early Monday morning, April 12, 2021, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility surrounded by her family, while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. Born May 8, 1942 in Honesdale, PA, Mary was the daughter of Frank and Marie Rutledge Logue. Mary grew up in the five boroughs of New York City and lived in Levittown, New York. Following high school, she attended Hofstra University in New York City where she earned her Associate’s degree. Mary married Frederick M. Gallagher, Jr. on October 23, 1966 in Long Island, NY, and he survives. They lived together in Ronkonkoma, NY and eventually settled in Adrian, MI, where she was a homemaker and raised her children. Her family and caring for her home were her true loves, and she took great pride in that throughout her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Adrian. Mary made everything beautiful! She loved decorating her home and took special attention to the holidays, making every Christmas magical. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, above all else. Mary loved to bake treats for her family and friends. She loved books and beautiful libraries and would spend hours browsing in bookstores. Mary wrote poems and created amazing pencil sketches. She loved her dogs and all animals. She was a fantastic singer and loved music. Mary enjoyed old movies and spent many a day lost in a book. She loved spending time with her loving husband, Fred. She lived life beautifully and loved making people happy. In addition to her loving husband, Fred, of over 54 years. Mary is survived by her children Fred (Sarah) Gallagher of Saline, MI and Jennifer (Michael) Barlow of Montague, MI; grandchildren, Jack Gallagher and Graceann Barlow; brother, John (Debbie) Logue of Patchogue, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Logue; and her Aunt Bea. A Mass of Resurrection for the Soul of Mary Ann Gallagher will be celebrated by Father Michael Newman, OSFS on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Adrian. Visitation for Mary will take place on Thursday, April 22, at the church, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and continuing until the time of service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Shrine Cemetery, Onsted. Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian has been entrusted with arrangements. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff of Lenawee Medical Care Facility and Hospice of Lenawee for their impeccable and loving care. The family suggests memorial contributions to honor Mary are suggested to Hospice of Lenawee; Siena Heights University (Mary felt education was important for everyone.); or the Adrian Dominican Sisters.
