HILLSDALE - Mary Ann Berry, 83, formerly of Blissfield, passed away early Monday morning, November 19, 2018 at Drew’s Place Assisted Living in Hillsdale. She was born August 24, 1935 in Grigston, KS to John and Fay (Morgan) Masch. Mary Ann loved life and adventure. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado A&M in Dietary Science and became a fully certified educator. While teaching and raising her family, she also earned her Master’s Degree. Mary Ann taught in Sand Creek, Blissfield, and Britton. After her retirement from teaching, she held several executive positions with Marriott, living and traveling to many destinations in her employment. Following her retirement in the Chicago area, Mary Ann used her artistic ability for interior design and was noted for her impeccable decorating skill and taste. Mary Ann had a very loving and open heart. She loved her family and raising her four children. She was active in 4-H and FHA, and was in charge of the 4-H Project Mothers for a period of time. She was also active in the Presbyterian Church in Chicago. A true world traveler, it was her joy to take her grandchildren on exciting adventures. Mary Ann was able to travel throughout the world that included, sailing the Mediterranean, and trips to Prince Edward Island, Italy, South America, and Asia. Her travels took her to more than 35 countries. She loved the arts and culture and was eager to share that with her family. Mary Ann is survived by her four children, William (Angie) Berry and their children, Elysia and Janelle; Glen (Jane) Berry and their children, Adam, Nicholas, Justin, and Emily; Craig (Rosanne) Berry, and their daughter Maria; Laura Berry and her children Robert, Iman, Jamila, Asha, and Jamaal; a host of great-grandchildren; and former husband, Nelson Berry. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by two brothers. Per Mary Ann’s wishes she has been accepted to the Anatomical Donations Program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. A memorial service for Mary Ann will take place on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel in Blissfield with Rev. Deborah Cole officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lenawee County FFA Alumni, the Lenawee County 4-H Council, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
