MORENCI – Marlene J. Mock- Moriarity, age 88, of Morenci died Tuesday afternoon, March 1, 2022 at Charlotte Stephenson Manor with her family by her side. Born on April 21, 1933 in Bryan, OH to Harvey and Gladys (Quidort) King. Marlene graduated from Chesterfield High School in Lyons, OH in 1951. On December 29, 1951 Marlene married her sweetheart, Wendell Mock. They were blessed with over 39 years together of raising a family and creating many memories before Wendell’s death on July 24, 1991. Marlene was fortunate to find love again, and on March 22, 1997 she married Myron L. Moriarity and they were just shy of celebrating 18 years together when he passed on March 7, 2015. Marlene was a teacher’s aide at Morenci Area Schools with the elementary students for almost 30 years, where she was loved by both the students and staff. Always physically active, Marlene enjoyed golfing and playing softball for many years. She loved to be outdoors and would spend hours working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Her nurturing disposition was evident to everyone that knew her, and she cherished the role of grandmother and great-grandmother She is survived by her children, Marlan (Glen) Shaffer of Adrian, Greg (Becky) Mock of Morenci and Lisa (Fred) Love of Morenci; grandchildren, Karrie (Ryan) Patten, Kristal (Andy) VanZile, Ryan (Shana) Love, Corey Love, Darcy Adams, Jacob (Rebekah) Mock, Paige (Duncan) Cuykendall; step-granddaughter, Haley Easter; great-grandchildren, Landon Patten, Allison Patten, Brytton Patten, Caiden Randall, Madelyn Randall, Carter Love, Liam Love, Brooklyn Love, Kyrie Love, Kason Love, Jeremiah Adams and another great-granddaughter on the way; and sister, Janet Vernier of Oklahoma City, OK. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Wendell Mock and Myron Moriarity; brother, Gerald King and sister, Jeanette Vernier; great-granddaughter, Eden Adams and step-granddaughter, Hillary Shaffer. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian, with Rev. Larry Betz officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. The family will receive friends for visitation also on Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee, Adrian First Nazarene Church, Alzheimer’s Association or Charlotte Stephenson Manor.
