Joy Carol Clegg

ADRIAN- Joy Carol Clegg, 86, of Adrian died early Thursday morning, April 28, 2022 at ProMedica Charles & Virginia Hickman Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on January 7, 1936 in Adrian, the daughter of Allen and Ruth (Beyer) Moore. Joy graduated from Adrian High School with the Class of 1954. On January 23, 1954 Joy married her sweetheart, H. Michael Clegg and they celebrated over 39 years together before his death on March 17, 1993. During their marriage, Joy and Mike were blessed with 3 sons, Michael, Ed and Mark. While Joy was busy raising her children, she also worked outside the family home. Her organizational skills and efficient manner came in handy at American Chain & Cable, Ace Drill and McKinley School where she was a secretary. Joy took on the role of office manager at Clegg Electric in 1972 and worked there until her retirement in 2015. She loved working in the family business which was a central part of the Adrian community for over 40 years. Joy is survived by her sons, Michael (Anna) Clegg and Ed (Sue) Clegg; daughter-in-law, Anita Clegg; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gary Moore, Janice Harrington and Joan Sattler and many wonderful extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike; son, Mark; and siblings, Judy Scales and Greg Moore. Following Joy’s wishes, cremation will take place. A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.
