August 19, 1970 - November 21, 2021
ADRIAN – Jimmy Ray Brunt age 51, of Adrian, died on Sunday afternoon, November 21, 2021 after a courageous battle with Covid. He was born on August 19, 1970, one of four sons to Albert Lee and Geneieve (Miller) Brunt of LaFollette, Tennessee. The family moved to Michigan in 1976 and Jimmy Ray graduated from Adrian High School with the Class of 1988. On August 19, 2003 Jimmy married Kendra Neumann in Monroe, MI and they have shared over 18 years of making memories and building a family. Jimmy Ray was the owner of Auto Trim Design “Express” of Monroe for over 20 years. He had many hobbies that he loved such as playing the guitar, billiards, and strategizing over chess. Jimmy Ray stayed active through his smooth roller-skating skills, playing tennis, cutting wood and riding motorcycles. Jimmy Ray had a huge heart full of love, kindness, knowledge, laughter and a little bit of stubbornness. That’s what made Jimmy….Jimmy. He took his time to analyze and think things through, always trying to make the best-informed decisions. Jimmy was fortunate to not only have a job that he was extremely good at, but a job that he loved. He treasured all the relationships he built over the years with the Dealerships and Body Shops he visited. But Jimmy wasn’t all about work. He enjoyed coming home and curling up on the couch to watch a movie with his family. He loved to sit outside and cook country style ribs on the grill especially when his girls and grandsons would visit. He loved camping, canoeing, walking through the woods shaking trees and stacking rocks. Jimmy always found a way to leave his mark behind on these adventures. Jimmy often enjoyed zoo time with family and friends. His mission was to get at least one animal to respond to him. Peacocks, gorillas, baby alligators, tigers, cheetahs you name it, he would find a connection. He had a special way of connecting to people also. Instead of shying away from someone who was having a bad day, Jimmy would take as much time as needed until he found a way to encourage you, put things in perspective and even make you laugh. Jimmy Ray’s all time favorite thing to do was – make a fire. Give him nothing more than a single match and a wet blade of grass and within minutes he’d have a raging fire, even if it was 100 degrees outside, he loved making a fire. He also loved sharing things he learned from his study of the Bible. Jimmy Ray was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on January 14, 1996. He had a strong faith in his God Jehovah and the promises held out in the scriptures. Now our Jimmy is asleep, safe in God’s memory awaiting one of those future promises himself. He always looked forward to the fulfillment of Acts 24:15 “And I have hope toward God…that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. Jimmy was always singing a song out loud. His song will now live on in each of us as memories that will never be forgotten. His memory will forever burn in our hearts. May we remember Jimmy Ray every day for the beautiful, the kind, loving, generous man he was to family and friends. In addition to his wife, Kendra, he is survived by his mother and stepfather, Geneieve and Jim Scheffler; his son, Dakota Ray Brunt; daughters, Danielle Marie Brunt (Sean A. Chipman), Julia Reeves and Tarah Renea Machtakova (Pavel Machtakov); grandsons, Coen Michael Vaughn and Trevor Jace Chipman; brothers, Joey (Desheng) Brunt-Zhuo, Richard (Tamara) Brunt and Billy Jack Thompson; and niece, Hayden Brunt and nephews, Richard L. Koa Brunt, and Izaac, Elias and Noah Thompson Jimmy Ray was preceded in death by his father. At the family’s request, cremation will take place and all services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.WagleyFuneralHomes.com.
