Saint Clair Shores – Frank Joseph Konath, Sr., 95 of St. Clair Shores, Michigan died Tuesday afternoon, July 26, 2022 at Otterbein Sunset Village in Sylvania, Ohio. Born May 26, 1927 in Roseville, Michigan, he was the son of Frank Joseph and Lottie (Kapucinski) Konath. On December 26, 1945, Frank proudly enlisted in the Army and served during World War II. Receiving both the Army of Occupation and the World War II Victory Medals. Making him a member of our Nation’s greatest generation. Frank completed high school while serving in the Army. Frank continued his military career and also served our country during the Korean Conflict. Frank returned stateside and began his career as a butcher, working for various family grocery stores and larger retailers throughout the Detroit area, until his retirement. Frank was a member of the Saint Clair Shores American Legion and Lake Shore Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, he loved building model airplanes, baking bread, reading, and gardening. Frank loved his family, especially doting on his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On February 28, 1960 Frank married Fay Sell at Lake Shore Presbyterian Church in Saint Clair Shores. They shared over 31 years of love, laughter and marriage until she preceded him in death in 1991. Frank is survived by his three children, Lori (Tim) Sauter, Frank (Charlene) Konath, Jr., and Scott Konath; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, and his beloved wife, Fay, Frank, was preceded in death by many siblings, making him the last surviving member of his immediate family. Per Frank’s request, cremation will take place. A memorial celebration will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Lake Shore Presbyterian Church, 27801 Jefferson Ave. Saint Clair Shores, MI 48081. His ashes will be laid to rest in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Mount Clemens, Michigan.
