ADRIAN – Frances Fanny Reeck, treasured wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt died peacefully Monday, December 17, 2018, at the age of 94, knowing that she was loved and appreciated by her entire family. Frances was born August 19, 1924, in Waltz, Michigan, the ninth of the 15 children of Elwin and Loretto (Hughes) Green. She was married to Jack Herrmann who preceded her in death in 1944, leaving her with two young children and another on the way. On November 29, 1947, Frances married Melvin Reeck and their love story continued for the next seventy years until Melvin’s death on April 12, 2018. During World War II, Frances worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant. In 2015, she delighted in being part of a world record for women dressed as Rosie the Riveter. In 2017, she was a member of the Rosie the Riveter Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. that acknowledged the women’s contribution to the war effort. She instilled the “We Can Do It” spirit in all her children. As the mother of 9 children, Frances ran a well-organized home, providing love, laughter and consequences ensuring all would flourish. Family always benefited from her caregiving skills, and when Frances was in her 50’s she went to school and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She is survived by her children: Marilyn (Donald) Smith of Adrian, Frances Landwehr, also of Adrian, Donna (Briscoe) Ellett II of Rossville, TN, Audrey (John Scalzitti) Kazimir of Sarasota, FL, Andrea Miller of Franklin, WI, Dr. Benjamin Reeck of Imlay City, MI, and Barbara (David) Wagley of Adrian; son-in-law, Jimmy Kitts of Brookfield, WI; daughter-in-law, Linda Reeck of Tecumseh; siblings: Cecil Harris, Laura Davis, Helen Koszykowski, Mildred (Gordon) Miles; numerous grandchildren, including great and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, Jack and Melvin, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Kitts; a son, Jack Reeck; sons-in-law: Duane Landwehr and William Kielczewski; great-great-grandson, Maxton Stewart; and siblings: Mervin, John, Robert and Raymond Green; Alice Poet, Jessie Green, Gladys Bordt, Evelyn Kuehl, Marian Krause, and Dorothy Jones. Memorial services will take place at 12 p.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian with Rev. Linda Farley officiating. Private burial will be at Palmyra Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday, December 21, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions in memory of Frances are suggested to Jasper Bible Church Building Fund.
