Elizabeth Ann Bishop

SAND CREEK – Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Bishop, age 85, of Sand Creek, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2021, with her family by her side. Betty was born on March 26, 1936, in Adrian to Lewis E. and Ardith “Maxine” (Ragless) Griffith. Betty graduated from Sand Creek High School with the Class of 1953. On June 5, 1954, Betty married her beloved husband, Warren Paul Bishop, Sr., and they were blessed with over 66 years together. They started their family soon after and enjoyed raising their four sons together. Betty was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a strong prayer warrior. She loved music and was a gifted pianist. She worked at the Salvation Army for many years, working in the office and as the pianist for Sunday Services. One of her joys in life was sitting at the piano and going from song to song in the hymnal, playing each with gusto. Betty volunteered at Bixby Hospital, Adrian College and at the Croswell Opera House for musical performances. Family was the focus of Betty’s life and she captured many special memories in photographs that filled numerous family albums. As well as raising children, being active with music and church, Betty could also be seen as a farmer’s wife driving a four-wheel tractor or chasing cows back to the barn. Betty was insightful and enjoyed taking part in a rousing conversation. In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her sons, Warren (Connie), Daniel (Nancy), Carl (Becky) and Gerald (Sarah) Bishop; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dorothy Rathke. Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Maple Avenue Bible Church with her son, Pastor Gerald Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Sand Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The funeral service will be live streamed through Maple Avenue Bible Church’s Facebook page. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in Adrian, MI.
