Brian Dean Betz

February 22, 1972 - June 2, 2022

MANITOU BEACH – Brian Dean Betz, 50, of Manitou Beach died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 2, 2022. Born February 22, 1972 in Adrian, he was the son of Melvin and Diana (Richard) Betz. Growing up, Brian had an undeniable zest for life. He will forever be known for his fun loving personality, unmistakable grin, heart-warming laugh, love of family, and his selfless devotion to all of those he encountered in his lifetime. He was a proud 1991 graduate of Blissfield High School. Brian then furthered his education in Carpentry and Construction. Brian turned his passion for carpentry into his career. A very talented and creative carpenter, he was the owner and operator of B&B Construction. If Brian could envision it, he could build it. The true love of Brian’s life was being outdoors and farming in his spare time. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, skiing, four-wheeling, and boating. He attended Crossroads Community Church in Adrian. He was also noted as being a good cook. Brian is survived by his son, Grant Betz; mother, Diana Betz; brother, Steven (Michelle) Betz; a large extended and loving family, which includes Karen Betz, Chris Betz, and many nieces and nephews; and many close friends that he enjoyed life with. Brian and his family loved their tradition of spending together at their family cottage Up North. For the last 16 years, over the Fourth of July holiday, generations of the Betz family would gather at the cabin for swimming, tubing, kayaking, playing cards and most importantly, family. Being together for a few days brought such joy to everyone, including Brian. These precious memories of family and Brian have been embedded in each family member’s heart and they are forever grateful for that time together. Brian was preceded in death by his father Melvin Betz in 2019; brother, Michael Betz in 2015; and his grandparents, Cloyd and Berdean Richard and Wendell and Corabelle Betz. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. at the Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel in Blissfield. The funeral service for Brian will be held on Thursday, June 9, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Tyler Kleeberger officiating. Burial will follow in Ogden Township Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the family to establish an educational fund for Brian’s son, Grant.
