ADRIAN – Bonnie Mae Watters, 91, of Adrian, stepped onto the shores of Heaven, Saturday, July 3, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at home, while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born in Adrian on August 24, 1929, to the late Rev. Donald R. Baughey, Sr. and Ethel Belle (Divens) Baughey. On May 30, 1952, she married George E. Watters, Jr., and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2019. Bonnie leaves behind her daughter, Deborah (Rev. Dr. Rodney) Lindsay of Goose Creek, SC; daughter-in-law Cheryl Plemmons-Watters of Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren: Jason (Karalynne) Watters of Cincinnati, Andrew (Jennifer) Watters of Galion, OH, Ryan (Danielle) Watters of Cincinnati, Lynette (Corey) Dickerson of Goose Creek, SC, Bradley (Elise) Lindsay of Murietta, CA, and Rachel Lindsay of Ashville, NC; thirteen great-grandchildren: JeNessa, Kaitlynne, Jaxon, JaLayna, Chandler, Jesson, Michaella, Grace, and Steven Watters, Harper Dickerson, and Micah, Molly, and Malachi Lindsay; siblings, Donald Baughey, Jr., Joan (Rev. James) Rupert, and Mary Watters; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George; her parents; her son, Steven Keith Watters, in 2001; and siblings, Donna Powers and Ronald Baughey. Bonnie served as an educator for her professional career. First teaching in the County Normal One Room School House, then teaching 3rd and 4th grades for Adrian Public Schools for over 27 years, at Garfield and Mitchener Elementary Schools. She was a longtime member of the Pilgrim Evangelistic Tabernacle of Adrian and more recently attended Raisin Valley Friends Church. In her younger years, Bonnie sang on the Evangelistic Hour Radio Broadcast and faithfully served as a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Treasurer. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling and camping; but being a grandmother brought Bonnie the most joy. The family would like to extend a special thank you to ComForCare and Hospice of Lenawee for their special and loving care. As well as Mark and Susan Brainerd of Adrian, who have become adopted siblings to Debbie, for their love, friendship, and care to Bonnie and family. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian with Rev. Doug Chandler, Rev. Dr. Rodney Lindsay, and Ryan Watters, MA, LPC, officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Adrian. Visitation will be held at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and again on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until the time of the service.
