ANN ARBOR—Barbara June Baily, 89, of Ann Arbor, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the University of Michigan Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born June 3, 1929 in Ney, Ohio to Wright and Clella (Hildebrand) Moats. The family moved to Clinton, MI in 1937, where she later graduated Clinton High School. One of her fondest memories was singing at local gatherings with her four sisters. Barbara attended Stevens College in Missouri, receiving a degree in Nursery School and Kindergarten Education. In the summers she worked at the family ice cream parlor in Clinton. She taught kindergarten at Gardner Elementary School in Albion, MI where she met and married Harold Baily. After raising her five boys, Barbara worked as a nursery school teacher, child care instructor, and team member at Ideation, Inc. She loved her church and was an active member and volunteer at First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor. She was a member of P.E.O. and Delta Zeta Sorority. For many years Barbara was a volunteer for her sons’ Boy Scout Troop 49/649 in Adrian. She enjoyed singing, gardening, and playing the piano, but her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren. Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by five sons: Mark (Susan) of Ann Arbor; Scott of Nanuet, NY; Todd (Teri) of Ann Arbor; Kirk (Peggy) of Los Angeles, CA; Paul (Kate) of New Albany, OH; grandchildren Larkyn (Lee) Cervantes Millbern, Michael, Spencer, Rachel, Bowen, BellaClare, Luke, Grace, Kyra Baily; great-granddaughters Noelia and Emily Cervantes Millbern; brother-in-law Joseph Wagley of Adrian, MI; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother William, and sisters Virginia Woodliff, Vivian Leptrone, Kathryn Sage Walker, and Phyllis Wagley. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor, on Saturday, September 15, at 2:00pm, with the Reverends Nancy Lynn and Douglas Paterson officiating. A brief reception will follow the service. Barbara’s ashes will be interred in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family requests donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor or Mott Children’s Hospital.
