Urvin James Reau

BRITTON- Urvin James Reau, 93, of Britton, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Urvin was born on March 27, 1931, on the family homestead in Britton, Michigan. He was the oldest child of Arnold and Martha (Weis) Reau. Urvin graduated from Britton Macon High School with the Class of 1948. On October 18, 1952, Urvin married Roberta Petee at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Deerfield. They shared 66 wonderful years together before her death on April 5, 2019. Urvin and Roberta were blessed with six children, which meant life was never dull. Even though Urvin had a full-time job besides being a farmer, he always made time to attend his children and later his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. Urvin worked at Tecumseh Products as an engineer for 32 years and after “retiring” went to work with his son at Reau Manufacturing where he was a delivery driver. Urvin had farming in his blood and started farming with his father at the age of 7. He raised crops and livestock, which included cows and pigs. He was a lifetime member of Light of Christ Parish, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Urvin enjoyed taking his crew up north where he and his sister’s families shared a cabin in St. Helen, MI. He looked forward to golfing each spring and treasured the friendship he had with his long-time golf partner, Randy Salisbury. A loyal Norte Dame football fan, Urvin wore their colors with pride. Urvin was a regular at the Dundee Senior Center and especially liked going on Tuesdays when Euchre was the card game of choice. He is survived by his pride and joy- children, Denise (Gary) Maska, Ruth Ann (Gary) Judkins, Alan (Dawn) Reau, Brenda (Mike) Servoss, Julie (Harv) Kulka and Chris (Pam) Reau; 20 grandchildren and spouses; 46 great-grandchildren with another on the way; and his sister, Wilma Jeziorski. Urvin was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; great-grandson, Aiden Good; and sister, Shirley Clement. Mass of the Resurrection for Urvin will be 11 AM, Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Light of Christ Parish, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Deerfield, with Fr. Jeffrey Poll as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 3 to 7 PM at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel, Blissfield; and from 10 to 11 AM at the church on Tuesday before Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee Senior Center or to his family so they can donate to the various organizations that Urvin was fond of; envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
