S. Helene Crockett

RIGA- S. Helene Crockett, age 71, of Riga, passed away at the Hospice of Lenawee Home on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. She was born on July 15, 1945, in Austria, to Anton Dobrisek and Sophie Kropf Rapp. Helene emigrated from Austria with her family at the age of 9, following World War II. Her Austrian heritage was very important to her. Helene was proud to pass along her background and traditions to her children and grandchildren. She was also a proud graduate of Notre Dame Academy and attended Mary Manse College. Helene married Lowell Crockett on September 30, 1995, at Trinity Lutheran church in Riga, and he survives. She was employed by Merillat for many years as a cabinet maker and line supervisor. Helene was a member of the LIght of Christ Parish in Blissfield. She is remembered for being a very giving person. Helene's family was the most important thing in her life. She truly loved them and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helene also found enjoyment in gardening, raising cacti and orchids, and her wonderful doll collection. Helene is survived by her husband, Lowell Crockett of Riga; her sons, Kevon (Karrie) Martis of Riga and Eric (Paula) Martis of Blissfield; her step-son, Jerry (Carol) Crockett of Grand Rapid; four grandchildren, Courtney, Noah, Garrett and Adam Martis; 3 great-grandchildren; her sister, Juliana (Hans)Belcsak and their daughter, Claudia of New Jersey. Through her marriage with Lowell, Helene was also able to share many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Henry Peter Belcsak. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at LIght of Christ Catholic Parish in Blissfield with Rev. Jeffrey Poll as Celebrant. Visitation will take place at 10:00 to the time of Mass at the church. Burial will follow at Riga Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Helene may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
