Robert "Bob" Charles Cannon

BLISSFIELD- Robert “Bob” Charles Cannon, 69, of Blissfield, Michigan died Wednesday morning, July 26, 2023 at Hickory Ridge of Temperance. Bob was born on January 19, 1954 in Adrian, MI, the son of John A. and Catherine (Berry) Cannon. Bob was a graduate of Blissfield High School with the Class of 1973. There is no denying that Bob knew what the definition of hard work and dedication looked like as the day after he graduated high school he started his job at Maxitrol in Blissfield. He was a foreman of shipping and receiving and retired from Maxitrol after 43 years. On June 22, 1985 Bob married Kristin VanNieuwenhze at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, in Blissfield, and they recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. In his younger years, Bob played fast pitch softball for Harvestor at Island Park in Adrian, and was on a bowling league through Rich Lanes. Bob and Kris were very involved with their two sons while they were growing up and attended all their sporting and school events. He was a true college football fan and loved to watch his U of M Wolverines, Georgia and LSU teams. Once football season ended, Bob would cheer on college hockey, as he patiently waited for football to start again. After retiring, Bob and Kris enjoyed taking day trips or long weekends all over Michigan and seeing the sights. They also had the opportunity to take an Alaskan Cruise for Bob’s retirement, and a trip to the Netherlands and Germany where they celebrated a milestone birthday and anniversary. Bob attended Light of Christ Parish, St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blissfield. In addition to his wife, Kris, Bob is survived by their sons, Kyle Cannon and Corey Cannon (Ashley Briggs); his grandson, Jack Robert Cannon and baby Max who is on his way; siblings, Diane (Jim) Rice and Doug (Lynette) Cannon; brother-in-law, Michael (Carrie) VanNieuwenhze; and mother-in-law, Sallie VanNieuwenhze. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Cannon; and father-in-law, Wayne VanNieuwenhze. Following Bob’s wishes cremation will take place. A scripture service will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel with Fr. Jeff Poll. A memorial visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service. Memorial contributions in Bob’s honor may be made to the Lenawee Humane Society.
