Patty Lou (Isakson) Wright

BLISSFIELD- Patty Lou (Isakson)Wright, 88, of Blissfield, MI died Friday, September 15, 2023 at Blissfield Place surrounded by her family. Patty was born on March 11, 1935 in Kittanning, PA, the only daughter of Robert and Estelle (McDermott) Taylor. She is a 1953 graduate of Kittanning High School. Patty went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Teaching in 1957 from Indiana State Teachers College, now called Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Patty later earned her Master’s degree in Reading from Eastern Michigan University. On March 2, 1957 Patty married Kenneth L. Isakson in Kittanning, PA. Shortly after their wedding, Patty and Ken relocated to North Dakota where they started their new life together and she began her career in teaching. While in North Dakota, they welcomed their two children, David and Kelly. After a few years, the family moved to Michigan where Patty became a favorite at Blissfield Community Schools, teaching for 11years at the elementary. The Isakson family then traveled out west to California, where they lived until Ken’s unexpected death in 1980. The call to return to Michigan was strong, so Patty and the kids moved back; and Patty finished her 30-year teaching career at Deerfield Community Schools. Patty was fortunate to find love again and married Frank E. Wright on January 18, 1992, sharing twenty years together before he died on February 5, 2012. Patty touched the lives of many students, and her passion was helping them to read. She took great satisfaction in canning and freezing the vegetables from her garden for many years. Patty’s fruit pies were a treat the whole family enjoyed, and no matter how frequently she baked the pies, it was never enough! She was a devout christian and former member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Blissfield; and more recently belonged to Blissfield Baptist Church. Patty’s family was her pride and joy, and the title of “Grandma” was a role she treasured. She is survived by her children, David (Amy) Isakson and Kelly (Michael) Holets; grandchildren, Shaunna Isakson (Ryan Knox), Kenneth Isakson, Mackenzie Holets (William Witt) and Ramsden (Levi) Kinsey; great-granddaughter, Lyla Kinsey; and her bonus stepchildren and step-great grandchildren. Patty was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Kenneth Isakson and Frank Wright. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Blissfield Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Frantz officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel, Blissfield.
