Marie Ethel Woodbury

DEERFIELD- Marie Ethel Woodbury, 90, of Deerfield, Michigan died early Monday morning, April 25, 2022 at ProMedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. Born on January 7, 1932, she was the only daughter of Ralph A. and Lydia E. (Perry) Nicely. Marie graduated from Deerfield High School and went on to attend college where she studied bookkeeping. On August 20, 1955 Marie married Harry Lloyd Woodbury and they were blessed with 57 years together before his death on October 14, 2012. During their life together, Marie and Harry raised a family of five children, shared many laughs and created wonderful memories in their hometown of Deerfield. Marie worked for over twenty years in bookkeeping and retired from Simplex Industries. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and was an avid gardener. Harry would help plant and raise the vegetables, while Marie was in charge of canning and freezing; together they made a great team in life. They enjoyed traveling to Corning, Iowa where they would visit Harry’s side of the family. She was a lifetime member of Light of Christ Parish, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Marie was involved for many years on the Altar Society, giving of her time and talents. Marie leaves behind her greatest joy, her family. She is survived by her children, Sharon Smith, John (Suzan) Woodbury, Lisa (Steven) Schroeder, Harry Woodbury, Jr., and Terry (Kathy) Woodbury; 7 grandsons; 7 great-grandsons and 5 great-granddaughters. The Mass of Resurrection for the soul of Marie will be celebrated by Father Jeff Poll on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Light of Christ Parish, Deerfield Campus. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel in Blissfield. Visitation will also take place on Friday at the church; from 10:00 a.m. until Mass begins. Private burial will be at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel in Blissfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Light of Christ Catholic Church.
