Lorraine J. Frear

Adrian—Lorraine J. Frear of Adrian passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at home with the loving care of her family. Lorraine was born January 26, 1925 in Clinton, the daughter of William and Rose (Smith) Service. On November 15, 1941 she married J. Alva Frear in Tecumseh. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1998. Lorraine was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Adrian, serving as a Trustee. She belonged to the Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary and Wednesday Morning Bible Study. She was instrumental in helping build the new building for St. John’s in particular the kitchen and the beautiful flower beds. She was best known for always cooking and helping feed people. For over thirty-six years she was a member of Bixby’s Hospital Auxiliary working as an escort. In addition, she decorated the hospital at Christmas with beautiful wreaths she made. She is survived by her sons, David (Nancy) of Bakersfield, California, Ronald (Cindy) of Toledo, Ohio and daughter, Sue (Paul) Brown of Galveston, Texas. Her special grandchildren, Calvin Frear of Tecumseh, Karen Barnes of Clear Lake City, Texas, Michael Brown of Cypress, Texas, Frances (Larry) DeRosier, Burlington, Wisconsin, Marcie (Lonnie) Brim of Racine, Wisconsin; great-grandsons Shane Frear, Dominick, Kyle, Myles DeRosier, Tyler Cohen and great-granddaughters, Whitney Barnes, Hannah DeRosier, Mikayla and Elizabeth Brim; sisters, Joyce (Earl) Goetz of Riga, Marietta (Herman) Dick of Farmington Hills and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Terry, her brothers, Robert, William, Raymond, and Elden, sisters, Helen, Margaret, Dorothy, Leora and Alice. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian with Pastor Joel Sarrault officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Bixby Hospital Auxiliary. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
