Lois Jean Dillon

TECUMSEH- Lois Jean Dillon, 88, of Tecumseh died Thursday evening, February 9, 2023 at Tecumseh Place under the care of Hospice of Lenawee with her family by her side. Born on August 5, 1934 in Adrian, Lois was the second of Joseph and Sylvia (Jenkins) Benschoter’s nine children. She attended Onsted Community Schools while growing up. On August 23, 1952 Lois married Jerry Dillon and they were blessed with over 43 years of marriage before his death on March 12, 1996. Lois and Jerry were the proud parents of three sons who they helped instill a close relationship with God, respecting others and a strong work ethic. Lois worked a variety of jobs during her lifetime, but it was during her time at Tecumseh Public Schools as a lunch supervisor that she was able to make a lasting impression on so many students with her positive outlook and nurturing personality. Lois lived her faith and was a lifetime member of the Madison Church of the Nazarene. Always giving of her time and many talents, Lois was an active member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, National Campers and Hikers Association, and a leader for the Boys Scouts and Cub Scouts. Lois loved spending time with her family and going to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s many activities. For many years Lois and Jerry would winter in Florida and encourage family and friends to come visit them and enjoy the sunshine. She is survived by her sons, Gregory (Janet) Dillon of Adrian, Bradford (Candy) Dillon of Britton and Steve (Debbie) Dillon of Tecumseh; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and siblings, Betty (Roger) Snyder, Beverly (Darrell) Hyder, Glen (Joanne) Benschoter and Lynn (Judy) Benschoter. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry and brothers, Norman, Ronald, Leland and Donald. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian with Jim Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home in Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
