Julia "Julie" A. Holtz

ADRIAN- Julia “Julie” A. Holtz, age 90, of Adrian, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, surrounded by love and support at the Hospice of Lenawee Home. Julie was born on April 20, 1936, the youngest of James and Dorothy (Jackson) Kirk’s three children. She was an Adrian Maple all through school graduating from Adrian High School. Julie went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Adrian College. On June 23, 1956, she married her sweetheart, William “Bill” Holtz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian. Julie and Bill shared many adventures in their 62 years together. They were blessed with three sons who inherited their father’s size and sense of humor. As you can guess, Julie had her hands full with these four men. Bill passed away on June 13, 2018. Julie’s teaching career was with the Adrian Public Schools system where she taught for 28 years. Her creative side came through in her knitting, sewing, and doing crafts. They had many joyous family gatherings, pranks that were played and laughs shared at their Devils Lake home. Julie was active in her community, being a part of the Jaycee Auxiliary, Tau Delta Sorority, Tabea Sorority and Michigan Education Association Retired. Strong and steadfast in her faith, Julie was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She will be missed by her sons, David (Debbie) Holtz, Brian (Jolene) Holtz and Todd Holtz (Terri Smith); grandchildren: Riley Holtz (Julie Koch), Morgan (Colleen) Holtz, Celeste (Tisha Lane) Holtz, Tyler (Beth) Holt, Austin (Megan) Holtz, Emily (Ryan) Vander Gailen, Joshua Holtz (Mason Good) and Bailee Holtz; great-grandchildren: Aubreigh, Addyson and Will Holtz, Tessa and Marley Holtz, Grayson and Payton Holtz, Mason, Owen and James Vander Galien, Emma and Norah Holtz, Emerson Holtz, and Leland Holtz; and her sister, Elaine Phillips. In addition to her husband, Bill, Julie was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Kirk. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel Sarrault officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4 to 8 PM at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
