John Rottman, Jr.

ADRIAN – John H. Rottman, Jr., age 60, of Adrian, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 17, 2010, at his home. John was born November 21, 1949, in Saginaw, the son of John and Dorothy (Claus) Rottman, Sr. After graduating from Arthur Hills High School in Saginaw, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines Corp. On May 24, 1969, John married Lana Muttscheler in Saginaw. John and Lana celebrated 36 years of marriage prior to her death in 2005. After completing his tour of duty with the Marine Corps, John joined the Army National Reserves, retiring after 20 years of service. His career with General Motors started in Saginaw. He relocated to Adrian to work at the Delphi plant where he retired in 2002. John was also a member of the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department Reserves for several years. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was active with several veterans’ organizations including, Amvets Post #1957, the American Legion Post # 97, the VFW Annis Fint Post #1584, the Moose Lodge #1034 and the La Societe des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux. John is survived by his children: Jay (Heather) Rottman of Jasper and Lisa Watson of Adrian; three grandchildren, Nathan, Alex and Sean Rottman; sister, Lou Ann Hohman of Hemlock, MI; brother, Raymond (Dianne) Rottman of Goodells, MI; step-brother, Norman (Jennifer) Blackwell of Georgia; father-in-law, James Naismyth of Adrian; sisters-in-law, Nancy Saunders of Adrian and Charlotte (William) Hardy of Clayton, many nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews. Also surviving is his dear friend and companion, Loann Robertson of Adrian. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Rottman, Sr. and a brother-in-law, Vincent Hohman. The funeral service for John will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010, at Wagley Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Jewett officiating and military honors conducted by the VFW Annis Fint Post #1584, the American Legion Post #97, Amvets Post #1957, and La Societe des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux. Private burial will be held East Lawn Memorial Garden in Saginaw. Visitation will be held Thursday at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until the service.
