Janet Mae Jensen

SYLVANIA- Janet Mae (Schuller) Jensen, age 90, of Sylvania, Ohio passed away on Monday morning, August 3, 2026, at the Kingston Residence in Sylvania under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Janet was born on September 22, 1935, to Arnold and Kathryn (Walter) Schuller in Toledo, OH. She was the baby of the family and was treasured by her live-in grandma, “Mimi” Edith Schuller. She married her handsome high school sweetheart, Theodore C. “Ted” Jensen on September 12, 1953. During their 57 years together, they shared many great adventures and memories before his death in 2011. A mother of six, many of Janet’s years were spent as Mom and homemaker, serving up her famous chicken and dumplings every Sunday. The family moved from Toledo Ohio to Battle Creek, MI for Ted’s job in 1963 and were part of St. Joseph Catholic Parish, making new friends and keeping strong ties to family and friends back home. Then in 1969, Janet and Ted purchased an A&W restaurant and moved their family to the beautiful small town of Blissfield, MI. She excelled in her new role as a manager/owner and mom to all the carhops! Janet was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, now Light of Christ Parish, for 57 years; serving faithfully as catechist, parish council member and editor of the parish newsletter. She also worked as a bank teller at Jipson Carter State Bank/Key Bank for 5 years before retiring. In their retirement years, Janet and Ted traveled to Ohio campgrounds in their fifth wheel camper with a fun-loving group of close-knit friends. Janet was a fierce competitor at word games and card games and loved spending her time with family and friends. Janet will be greatly missed by her children, Theodore A. (Rochelle) Jensen, Margery (Tim) Presutti, Thomas (Tami Ormiston) Jensen, Terry Jensen, Timothy (Polly) Jensen and Todd (Diana Dee) Jensen; grandchildren, Christine (Jason) Holliday, Amanda (Keith) Goldfuss, Jacob (Julie Brahm) Jensen, Nicole (Peter) Daining, Dan (Kayla) Crist, Amy Jensen, Todd Ormiston, Amanda Ormiston, Janelle (Aaron) Pollock, Bradley (Hallie) Jensen, Patrick (Jou Poveymirow) Jensen, Natalie (Travis) Iffland, Zachary Jensen, Michael Jensen and Nicholas Jensen, great-grandchildren: Max and Macy Holliday; David, Lida, and Jude Goldfuss; Teddy and Zebedee Daining; Kadan, Jaxan, Danika, Jensen, and Kanaan Crist; Taelee, Cecilia, and Ean LaVassaur; Alexa Jensen; Jayla and Colten Czubek; Lillie, Ava and Asher Pollock; Nash Jensen; and Walker and Dirks Iffland. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ted, three siblings, and two grandsons, Matthew Crist and Andrew Jensen. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Light of Christ Parish, St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blissfield with celebrant Fr. Jeff Poll. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 4 to 8 PM at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel, Blissfield, where a scripture service will take place at 7:00 PM.
