Elsie F. Demey

BLISSFIELD- Elsie F. Demey, age 94, of Blissfield, died on Sunday, April 28, 2024, in Bradenton, Florida. Elsie was born October 26, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio to John and Frances (Yurnikl) Cambal. On August 13, 1949, Elsie married the love of her life Victor “Vic” Demey and they celebrated 71 years together before Vic passed in 2020. Elsie worked in the Blissfield High School cafeteria for 20 years, retiring in 1991. One of her passions was taking care of everyone and she was able to do this throughout her career, even being able to keep an eye on her kids! Elsie really enjoyed crafting, especially crocheting and quilting. She blessed every family member with one of her beautiful quilts. Elsie’s Catholic faith has been a source of strength for her throughout her life. She and Vic were members of Light of Christ Parish, St. Peter the Apostle Church, in Blissfield, for many years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Elsie and Vic summered in Michigan and spent the winters in Florida, including driving grandma and grandpa Cambal and staying with them, for many years. They also enjoyed traveling, gambling and cruising with family friends, especially Hank and Joanne Denolf. Elsie enjoyed her time at Golf Lakes Park in Bradenton, especially playing cards with all of her friends. Elsie is survived by her six children, Linda Snyder, Larry Demey, David Demey, Cheryl Tucker, Patti Rahman and Lisa (Randy) Harvey; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson; sister, Betty Kudlac and many nieces and nephews. Elsie was preceded in death by her spouse, Victor Demey, her parents and one brother and one sister. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Light of Christ Parish, St. Peter the Apostle Church in Blissfield with Rev. Jeffrey Poll as celebrant.
