Dale Walter Goetz

BLISSFIELD, MI – Dale Walter Goetz, age 89 of Blissfield, MI passed away surrounded by his loving family at Blissfield Place on March 15, 2025. He was born on April 9, 1935, in Riga, MI to Walter Carl and Jennie Alma Bertha (Peters) Goetz. Dale graduated from Blissfield High School with the Class of 1953. He married Susie Shorthouse on December 10, 1966, in Sylvania, OH. Dale was a truck driver for Carolina Freight Carriers and especially enjoyed driving his truck at night. He was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association and served several terms as President of the Lenawee Loafers. Dale enjoyed socializing and being around other people. He could often be found in his recliner watching a Michigan State Spartans ball game or watching an old Western movie. Dale and Susie were fortunate enough to live the last few years of life at Blissfield Place where they could be found playing cards or dominoes. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Susie; their children, Michael Goetz, Dawn (Mark) James, Ellen (Curtis) Snodgrass, Robin Oberlender, Doreen (Michael Chambers) Craft, Matthew (Heather) Goetz, Alysia (Stanley) Masters and Angela Siering; sister, Linda (Bill) Bierman; brother in law, Jim (Polly) Schaedler; grandchildren, Heather, Melanie, Candi, Crystal, BJ, Amber, Stephanie, Rick, Chris, Alexis, Ethan, Elizabeth, Aubrey, Collin, Drew and Emmett; great grandchildren, Austin, Dakota, Justin, Zoe, Stanley, Taylor, Emma, Ashton, Zily, Liam, Lucas, Carson, Addison, Grayson, Dominic, Sammi, Ezra, Waylon, Wyatt, Fischer and Everett. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Herbert Goetz; sisters, Colleen (Howard) Salsbury, Sharon Goetz and Connie Schaedler; and son in law, Terry Oberlender. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 3-7:00 p.m. at the Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Adrian with Pastor Joel Sarrault officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the start of services at the church. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery after the funeral luncheon. Dale’s family would like to say “Thank You” to the caregivers at Blissfield Place and Careline Hospice for their loving care.
