Charles "Chuck" Doyle Presley

ADRIAN- Charles “Chuck” Doyle Presley, 87, of Adrian, Michigan died Monday evening, July 17, 2023 at Hampton Manor of Adrian, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. Chuck was born on October 26, 1935 in McDougal, Arkansas, the son of Doyle and Wilma (Bennett) Presley; sadly, Doyle died before Chuck was born. While Chuck was still young, his mother married a wonderful man, Noel Roach, who loved and raised Chuck as his son. Chuck was the big brother to four younger siblings that came from his new family. Chuck graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1953 and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. Upon his return, he attended Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan. Chuck worked at Bookcrafters in Chelsea, MI for over 20 years, retiring in 1990 as Vice President. American Business Products bought out Bookcrafters and Chuck had the opportunity to work as a consultant for the new company using all his years of experience and connections in the printing community. In 1955, Chuck married his high school sweetheart, Paula Jean Bradbury of Ann Arbor. They shared over 42 years together and raised 3 children before her death in 1997. Chuck was fortunate to find love again and shared his life with wives, Shirley Hon and Mabel McAdam who have both died. On July 8, 2014 Chuck married Ruth Prielipp-Lamley and she survives. When Chuck was younger, he belonged to Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor and in more recent years was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Adrian. He was a longtime member of the Ann Arbor Litho Club and the University of Michigan Victors Club. Airplanes and flying always fascinated Chuck and he started to pursue his pilot’s license after his son, Art, became a pilot. In addition to his wife, Ruth, Chuck is survived by his children, Arthur (Laura) Presley of La Porte, IN and Arlene (Doug) Eisele of Tecumseh, MI; son-in-law, Fred Bailey; grandchildren, Ali (Steven) Shaw, Emily (Mike) Evans, Michael (Katie) Presley, Kaitlyn (Taylor) Reyes and Logan Presley; 8 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Raymond Roach, Keith Roach and Neoma Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Paula, Shirley and Mabel; daughter, Anita Bailey; and sister, Louise Schneider. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Adrian with Pastor Paul Herter officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Cremation will follow with a private burial to be held at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor.
