Charleen Sue Horky

BLISSFIELD- Charleen Sue Horky, 73, of Blissfield died early Monday morning, July 18, 2022 at home with her family by her side. Born on May 15, 1949 in Adrian, Michigan, Charleen is the daughter of Charles and Aileen (Woods) Grof. She graduated from Blissfield High School with the Class of 1967. On September 1, 1968 Charleen married her sweetheart, Thomas Horky, at Palmyra Presbyterian Church. They have been blessed with over 53 years together of raising their family and creating many wonderful memories. Charleen was a “Royals” supporter her whole life. She worked as the Food Services Director at Blissfield Community Schools for 26 years. You could count on Charleen being in the stands cheering on her sons and grandsons at all their school and sporting events over the years. She had a natural way of making friends everywhere she went. She was soft spoken and kind and people just gravitated towards her. The family had a cottage on Goose Lake in Hillsdale County, where they shared many cherished moments during the summer for over 15 years. She enjoyed spending time outdoors in her flower garden, cooking for her family and was known to show her competitive side while playing dominoes and Farkle with her grandsons. Charleen was a member of Elem3nt Church in Blissfield. In addition to her husband, Tom, Charleen is survived by their sons, Chad (Kristin) Horky of Blissfield and their sons, Spencer and Zackary; Corey (Abbie) Horky of Manchester and their sons, Tyler, Carson and Gavin; and Trent Horky of Harrison Twp, MI and his sons, Ayden and T.J.; siblings, Diane (Robert) Lynch, Deborah (Richard) Beagle and Randy (Sue) Grof; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Cole Horky; sister, Jacqueline Grof; and mother-in-law, Mildred Hermansen. Funeral services for Charleen will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Elem3nt Church in Blissfield with Pastor Gayle Ruble, Jr. officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel, in Blissfield; and again at the church one hour before the service begins on Friday.
