Alfred A. Waters

MACOMB, MI - Alfred A. Waters, 75, formerly of Adrian, currently of Macomb, Illinois, passed away at 1:41 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. He was born on June 11, 1937 in Pontiac, Michigan to Arvin and Matilda Nichols Waters. He first married Judith (Robertson) Calamungi. He then married Jacqueline Focht on December 23, 1978 in Lake Orion, Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline of Macomb; former wife, Judy Calamungi of Adrian; four sons, three daughters, 17 grandchildren, and one great-grandson: James (Barbara) Waters of Adrian, Michigan and their children, Cody, Leah, Tyler and Arielle; Brent Waters of Carlsbad, California, and his three children, Destiny, Cherish and Legend, and grandson, Jagger; Greg (Christine) Waters of Yakima, Washington, and their daughters, Carly, Alison and Emily; Alfred "Spike" (Meghan) Waters of Fort Riley, Kansas; Debbie Woszczyna of Lapeer, Michigan, and her children, Katie and John; Denise (Christopher) Rau of Valencia, California, and children, Spencer, Brandon and Claire; and Erin (Elton) Trojniar of Macomb, and their children, Cora and Dash. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Haskell. Al lived in Michigan, Ohio, Alaska, South Dakota and North Dakota before moving to Macomb in 1990. He graduated with a B.A. and Master’s degree from Michigan State University. He was formerly Admissions Director at Adrian College, and most recently the Director of Career Services at Western Illinois University, retiring in 2011. He was a member of the Macomb Masonic Lodge #17 and a former member of Rotary. Al loved life and enjoyed everyone he met. He loved God, his family and his country. He enjoyed playing crossword puzzles and working outside. He was the most generous and kind-hearted man. He will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, 303 East Washington Street, Macomb, IL 61455 with Reverend Michael Burdick officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow the services. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior’s Fund.
