Sharon Kay Hiller

ADRIAN – Sharon Kay Hiller, 78, of Adrian died Sunday afternoon August 7, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family, while under the compassionate care of Hospice of Lenawee. Born May 15, 1944 in Detroit, she was the only child of Raymond and Margaret Murphy. Sharon was a proud 1963 graduate of Mackenzie High School in Detroit. Upon completion of high school, Sharon entered the workforce as a Researcher for Burton Abstract and Title Company. Sharon was also employed as a caregiver. She had a heart for giving and throughout her life she enjoyed working as a babysitter, daycare teacher, and an aide in nursing homes, assisted living communities, and group homes. Most recently, she was a Patient Advocate at the University of Michigan. On July 31, 1971, Sharon married Shorty Hiller at Saint Peter’s Church in Detroit. He survives to cherish over 51 years of love and laughter. Sharon and Shorty were faithful members of the First Congregational Church in Hudson. Sharon was an animal lover. No animal, big or small, that needed a home or helping hand was excluded from Sharon’s home. She especially had a love of horses. Sharon also loved music and to dance. Her favorite song was the theme to “A Summer Place.” Spending time on the water and boating were also some of Sharon’s loves. In addition to her husband, Shorty, Sharon is survived by her daughter, Kerry (Paul) Schlabatch; three grandsons, Login (Kelsie) Sarnac, Tatton Sarnac, and Nolan Sarnac; great-grandson, Mason Sarnac; niece, Iris (Scott) Hammons; nephew, Harvey “Allen” (Jennifer) Hiller; and her cousin, Raymond (Leilani) Murphy. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Benjamin Lee Hiller; special uncle and aunt, Art and Emma Murphy; and Grandma Taylor Per Sharon’s request, cremation will take place. A memorial service for Sharon will take place on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Hudson, 127 Seward Street, Hudson, with Pastor Eric Hickman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Lenawee Humane Society.
