Jessie Grady-Ostrander

ADRIAN - Jessie Van Allen Grady-Ostrander, 98, with a life of devotion and love to Jesus and her family and others, was called to her Heavenly Home where she worships her Lord and Savior face to face. She passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 In Adrian, Michigan. Jessie was born May 10, 1919 to Charles and Pern Van Allen in Bay City, Michigan. Her brothers and sister who have gone before her in Heaven are Jack, Lee, Bernice and Paul. She attended Darbee Schools and graduate from Caro High School in 1937. On April 13, 1942 Jessie married Max Grady in Elizabethtown, KY before Max was deployed for World War II. Jessie was an active member of the Caro Church of the Nazarene for 82 years. She dedicated her spiritual efforts as a Sunday School Teacher, Missionary Society and Outreach to Prison Ministries. Jessie was known as a “Prayer Warrior”. Mom dedicated each morning in prayer, Bible Study and prayers for over 50 people daily. Jessie was an avid reader and shared her spiritual books with her family and friends. Mom’s greatest desire in life was all of her family and those she knew and loved would come to know Jesus as their personal Savior and meet her in Heaven. Jessie had a unique personality. There was no stranger in her midst. She was inquisitive, direct, gifted with a sharp mind, a sense of humor and generous in Spirit. After retiring from the State of Michigan for 19 years, she traveled worldwide. Jessie married her second husband Wilbur “Bud” Ostrander in 2002. Max Grady preceded her in death in 1977 and her second husband Bud Ostrander passed in 2003. Jessie is survived by her children, Colin and Carol (Chambers) Grady, Holland, Michigan, Carmen and John Johnson, Adrian, Michigan, Mark and Jennifer (Burggraf) Grady, Doyle, Tennessee, Jane Grady, Holland, Michigan and Brad and Karen (Rohlfs) Grady, Akron, Michigan. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews including Wayne, Jerry and Charles Ostrander and Sulyn Van Allen McLeod. Visitation will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene in Adrian, Michigan Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM with a Celebration of Life at 7:00 PM. Visitation will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro, Michigan. There will be visitation at 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM prior to the Celebration of Life Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Caro Church of the Nazarene. Officiating will be Rev. David Faulks, Rev. Larry Betz and Rev. Paul McNett. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Church of the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries for hurricane relief efforts for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.
