Dean Andrew Richard

JASPER- Dean Andrew Richard, 68, of Jasper died early Thursday morning, May 12, 2022 at the Hospice of Lenawee Home with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 22, 1954 in Adrian to Cloyd and Berdean (Williams) Richard. Dean grew up attending Sand Creek Community Schools and graduated with the Class of 1972. After graduation, Dean worked in the warehouse at Merillat Cabinetry for 37 years. Not ready to retire, he went on to Wacker Chemical in Tecumseh for another 10 years, finally retiring in February 2020. On September 6, 2001 Dean married Cynthia (Fox) Miller in Angola, IN and they have enjoyed over 20 years together of laughs and memories. Dean loved the great outdoors and took every opportunity to go up to the family cabin in Marion, MI on the Clam River. He enjoyed the thrill of riding his Goldwing motorcycle, four-wheelers, and snowmobiles trips in Northern Michigan. One could say Dean was meticulous about his yard and you would be right. He took great care of his lawn, whether it was in Jasper or up north in Marion, MI. Dean’s easy-going personality and sense of humor entertained his family and friends. He always had a joke to share. Dean made sure everyone around him knew that his loyal companion, with four legs and a tail, Jaxon, was his favorite buddy. It was obvious Dean loved life and treasured the time spent with family. In addition to his wife, Cindy, he is survived by his children, Renea Damms, Kerri (Rob) Shadewald and Joshua Feeney; bonus children, Joni (Milford) Music and James Miller; grandchildren, Karissa, Paige, Jaylen, Kayley, Emily, Riley, Carson, Wyett, Kolton and Suzie; and sister, Diana Betz. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Melvin Betz; nephew, Michael Betz; and his shih tzu, Bo. Memorial services for Dean will take place on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Wagley Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Jewett officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
